A note from the Race Director
Thank you for participating in the Chanoko 20k race on Sunday February 20.
Our goal at TBF Racing is to put on quality events that challenge each
athlete and allows them to experience the same thrill and exhilaration of
competing that we have felt over the last fifteen years of racing. Every
athlete is important to us. Every race is a chance for us to turn on more
people to the lifestyle that we love.In our quest to put on safe, exciting, well organized events we occasionally
make mistakes. From my perspective as race director no mistake is too small;
I expect the best from TBF Racing. I have raced at some of the biggest and
best races in the world, and I have raced at some of the worst organized
most unprofessional races imaginable. I have learned something from every
race. I have learned that when something goes wrong the best thing to do is
acknowledge it, learn from it, and make sure it doesn't happen again. The
course for the 20k was something that we worked hard to put together. We
scouted trails for days looking for the right twists and turns to navigate
you through the terrain at Folsom Lake. It is very unfortunate that an
un-marked intersection marred the beauty of the course and left the runners
frustrated and upset instead of challenged and excited.Regarding the Chanoko 20K Series Championship -
All participants in the Chanoko 20k Trail Run on Feb 20 are the only
athletes still eligible for the 20k series championship. Everybody has an
equal standing after the first event. Age group champions will be determined
based upon their finishes at the April 23 and May 20 20k races. Athletes
competing for the series championship must compete in all three events.I apologize for the inconvenience caused to you by this error on our part. I
hope you will accept my apology and come back to race with us again. I am
extending a $10 discount on our next 20k race on April 23 to any runners
entered in the February 20 race. Subtract ten dollars from the entry fee
when you send it in. That means that the fee for that race will be $8 if you
enter by April 9. On your entry form list your race number and the note
"2/20/00 20K" After much consideration and discussion we have decided that
it would be unfair to give awards for the race. There is no way to determine
actual winners for the 20k. The results posted are in order of finish at the
finish line with no adjustments. I hope you enjoyed the challenge or our
course, the food at the finish line, and the staff of TBF Racing working
hard that day to insure a quality event for you. And I hope to see you at
the lake for another Chanoko event!Bill Driskill
