Race Details

The TRI for REAL Series is USAT Sanctioned for 2013, and held at Rancho Seco Park in Herald, California. The course has a 1.5 k swim - 40 k bike - 10 k run. The Series dates for the three races are: June 2, July 14, and August 4, 2013. Series Awards include a Free entry into the 2014 Tri for Real Series plus Champion Gear and will be presented to the top male and female racing all three events in each age group at the August event.

The Tri for Real Triathlon will be USAT Sanctioned for 2013, requiring holding of an annual membership card with USAT or the purchase of a $12 one-day license with USAT on race day.

TRI for Real Triathlon Distance: Swim .93 miles (1.5k) – Bike 24.8 miles (40k) – Run 6.2 miles (10k)

Fees:

Tri for Real Triathlon: $80 til December 1, 2012, $90 til June 3, 2013, $100 til July 1, 2013, $110 til race day

Athletes 18 and under: $65 til December 1, 2012, $75 til June 3, 2013, $90 til July 1, 2013, $100 til race day

Tri for Real Relay Team: $100 til December 1, 2012, $120 til July 1, 2013, $130 til race day

       

Start Time: TRI for Real Triathlon 8:00 am
The road into the park will be closed from 7:30 am until 8 am for our TRI for KIDS bike course closure. Athletes MUST arrive prior to 7:30 am. Spectators arriving after 7:30 am can walk the 2 miles into the park or wait until 8 am when the road opens.

Packet pick up:
TRI for Real Packets may be picked up the Friday before each TRI for Real at Fleet Feet Sports at 8128 Madison Avenue in Fair Oaks from 12:00 pm to 6:00 pm. Race packets will be available race morning from 6:30 am to 7:45 am at the race site. The race will start promptly at 8:00 am. Be sure to give yourself plenty of time for entrance to the park, parking, transition set-up and warm-up. Your entry fee into the park is included in your Race entry fee. For athletes registering online using Active.com during race week, your race packet will NOT be available at Fleet Feet Sports if you registered on Thursday or Friday and you will need to pick it up at the race on race morning.

Race Features

Wave Starts:
Start waves will be determined based on race attendance and athlete safety. Please check with registration on race morning to confirm your exact start time.

Course Description:
Swim - The race starts from the beach in with a 1.5 kilometer or .93 mile swim from the beach area. The swim course will be a triangular course in Rancho Seco Lake marked by the large white triangular buoys. Water temperature should be between 68 and 74 degrees. Wetsuits are allowed. The swim will exit the lake and head up the beach and on a grassy path to the transition area located in the parking area.

Bike - The 40 kilometer or 24.8 mile bike course will begin after you exit the transition area and then mount your bike. From there you will exit the park and make a right hand turn on Hwy 104, making a U-turn at the turn around point and returning to the park. Please be careful while on the road. Riders must stay to the right at all times! Riders must not draft other riders: You must maintain at least THREE bike lengths at all times behind the rider in front of you, and you MUST ride single file while on the Highway. Passing is allowed in a timely manner when it is safe to do so. After passing return to the right side of the road and continue to ride safely. Failure to do so will result in a drafting penalty or disqualification. Crossing the centerline at ANY time will also result in disqualification. Proceed to the turn around on Hwy 104 and return to the park. Traffic has the right-of-way on the road so ride CAREFULLY. The Bike course will Not have an aid station. Water and electrolyte beverage, along with energy gels will be available in the transition area.

Run - The run course begins directly outside the transition area and is a 10-kilometer or 6.2 mile out-and-back course on fire roads and trails within the park. There will be two aid stations with water and electrolyte beverage, plus energy gels on the run course. One at mile 1.5, and one at the turn-around point: mile 3.1 on the run course. ALL athletes must wear their race number on the front of their body during the run and have it when crossing the finish line.

Transition Area - The Transition area will be on a first-come basis, with the exception of Reserved Bike Racks for TRI Clubs. The transition area at all TBF Racing events is for athletes only. All non-athletes must remain outside of the transition area at all times on race day. Bodymarking will be take place at the entrance to the transition area and must be completed before you enter the transition area. Athletes will have their race number marked on their legs and arms and have their age division on their calf. Glass or bottles are not allowed in the transition area.

Aid Stations:
Aid stations will be located in the transition area and at mile one and two on the run course, serving cold water, energy gels, and electrolyte beverage.

Divisions/Awards:
First place Overall Male and Female in the Tri for Real Olympic Distance Triathlon will receive Overall Champion Awards. There will be awards five deep in each five-year age group, and for Clydesdale and Athena divisions for the TRI for Real Triathlon. Relay Team awards will be for the Top three teams in each Division of Male, Female and Coed.

Series Awards, including a Free entry into the 2014 Tri for Real Series, will be presented to the top male and female racing all three events in each ten- year age group at the third and final Tri for Real Triathlon on August 4. 

Equipment:
Expected water temperature for Rancho Seco Park Lake will be 68-74 degrees. Wetsuits are allowed. Swim fins and snorkels are not allowed. Helmets must be worn and buckled on the bike at all times. Run numbers must be worn on the run and when crossing the finish line. Listening devices of any kind: MP3, IPod, headphones, etc... are not allowed.

Competitor Goodies:
Included for each competitor is a Tri for Real Triathlon tech-tee race shirt, XTERRA swim cap, athlete goody bag with CLIF Bar, Emerald Nuts and other product samples.

Post Race Athlete Food:
Included for each competitor is a post race meal of hot pasta with meat and vegetarian protein options, salad, fruit, cookies and beverage.

Sports Expo:
The post race sports expo will have vendors such as Total Body Fitness, Fleet Feet Sports, and Kinetic Cycles, Starbucks, US Cryotherapy, HealthSource Chiropractic, Active Life Chiropractic, FLUID recovery drink, Bicycles Plus, Fleet Feet Sports, and Tri Sports Jewelry.

Athlete Massage:
Free post race athlete massage will be provided courtesy of National Holistic Institute of Sacramento and Bryan College.

TRI Clubs:
If you are a member of a Triathlon Club that has 10 or more athletes racing with TBF Racing we can provide Reserved bike racks in the transition area for your club, have your club set up a tent in the expo/athlete area, and hang your banners at the event. To take advantage of this program, TRI Clubs must send the list of 10 or more pre-registered athletes to Bill@totalbodyfitness.com 7-10 days prior to the race.

Training and Coaching:
TBF Training provides group workouts and coaching for the sport of Triathlon along with individual Multi-Sport Coaching and Personal Training.

Refunds and Transfers:
TBF Racing has a No Refund policy on all of our events. A Refund requested prior to race week will be given a TBF Race credit for the amount of the entry fee minus $25 processing fee. Credits will not be given during race week. Transfers will be allowed from one TBF Racing event to another within a one-year time frame. There will be a $25 transfer fee. Transfers will not be allowed during race week.
