TRI for KIDS Triathlon

Race Details
The TRI for KIDS Series will be held at Rancho Seco Park in Herald, California. The course will have a 50 meter or 150 meter swim, a four mile bike, and a one mile run. Boys and girls aged 11 and over will swim the longer distance, with kids aged 10 and under doing the shorter distance. The Series dates for the three races are: June 2, July 14, and August 4, 2013. Series Awards will be presented to the top athletes racing all three events in each age group.

TRI for KIDS Triathlon Distance 10 and under: Swim 50 meters – Bike 4 miles – Run 1 mile
TRI for KIDS Triathlon Distance 11 and over: Swim 150 meters – Bike 4 miles – Run 1 mile

Fees:
TRI for KIDS Triathlon: $30 til December 1, 2012, $35 til June 3, 2013, $40 til race day, $50 race day

Start Time: TRI for KIDS Triathlon 7:30 am
The road into the park will be closed from 7:30 am until 8 am for the TRI for KIDS bike course closure. Athletes MUST arrive prior to 7:30 am. Spectators arriving after 7:30 am can walk the 2 miles into the park or wait until 8 am when the road opens.

Packet pick up:
TRI for KIDS Race packets will be available race morning from 6:30 am to 7:30 am at the race site. The race will start promptly at 7:30 am. Be sure to give yourself plenty of time for entrance to the park, parking, transition set-up and warm-up. Your entry fee into the park is included in your Race entry fee.

7:30 am Entry into Rancho Seco Park closed from 7:30 am to 8 am due to TRI for KIDS Triathlon bike course closure. Vehicles can park and walk in approximately one mile or wait until the road opens at 8 am.
7:40 am Race information announcement for Tri for Real Triathlon
8:00 am Start of Tri for Real Triathlon. There will be 6 waves, each 5 minutes apart.
11:30 am - 12:30pm Final Finisher of TRI for REAL
11:30 am Awards ceremony for TRI for Real.





Race Features

Wave Starts:
Start waves will be determined based on race attendance and athlete safety. Please check with registration on race morning to confirm your exact start time.
Course Description:
Swim - The swim course will be a 50 meter swim or 150 meter swim along the shoreline, completely monitored by safety kayakers and lifeguards.

Bike - The bike course will be a four-mile course on the roads inside the park at Rancho Seco. The course will be closed to traffic and monitored for safety. The Bike course will Not have an aid station. Water and electrolyte beverage, along with energy gels will be available in the transition area.

Run - The run course will be a one-mile course around sections of the lake on grass and trails. There will be an aid station at the start and half way on the run course. ALL athletes must wear their race number on the front of their body during the run and have it when crossing the finish line.

Transition Area - The Transition area for the TRI for KIDS Triathlon will be contained within the Transition area for the TRI for Real Triathlon with athletes from both races sharing portions of the Transition area. We ask parents after helping their kids set-up transition to please exit the Transition area. All non-athletes must remain outside of the transition area at all times during the race. Bodymarking will be take place at the entrance to the transition area and must be completed before you enter the transition area. Athletes will have their race number marked on their legs and arms and have their age division on their calf. Glass or bottles are not allowed in the transition area.

Aid Stations:
Aid stations will be located in the transition area and on the run course, serving cold water  and Electrolyte beverage.

Divisions/Awards:
For the TRI for KIDS Triathlon there will be age group awards five-deep for each one-year age group. Every finisher will receive a race finisher ribbon.

TRI for KIDS Series Awards, will be presented to the top athletes racing all three events in each one-year age group at the third and final TRI for KIDS Triathlon on August 4th. 

Equipment:
Expected water temperature for Rancho Seco Park Lake will be 72-76 degrees. Wetsuits are optional. Swim fins and snorkels are not allowed. Helmets must be worn and buckled on the bike at all times. Run numbers must be worn on the run and when crossing the finish line. Listening devices of any kind: MP3, IPod, headphones, etc.. are not allowed.

Competitor Goodies:
Included for each competitor is a TRI for KIDS Triathlon race shirt, swim cap, athlete goody bag with CLIF Kid Bar and Emerald Nuts product samples. Every finisher will receive a race finisher ribbon.

Post Race Athlete Food:
Included for each competitor is a post race meal of hot pasta with salad, fruit, cookies and beverage.

Sports Expo:
The post race sports expo will have vendors such as Total Body Fitness, Fleet Feet Sports, and Kinetic Cycles.

Athlete Massage:
Free post race athlete massage will be provided courtesy of National Holistic Institute of Sacramento.

Training and Coaching:
TBF Training provides group workouts and coaching for the sport of Triathlon along with individual Multi-Sport Coaching and Personal Training

Refunds and Transfers:
TBF Racing has a No Refund policy on all of our events. A Refund requested prior to race week will be given a TBF Race credit for the amount of the entry fee minus $25 processing fee. Credits will not be given during race week. Transfers will be allowed from one TBF Racing event to another within a one-year time frame. There will be a $25 transfer fee. Transfers will not be allowed during race week.
