Attention Athletes:

The TBF HIT III will be a USAT sanctioned event, requiring the purchase of a $10 one-day license with USAT on race day, or the holding of an annual membership card with USAT. All athletes will be required to show a valid picture ID along with their annual USAT membership card.

TBF Racing is pleased to announce the return of our Half-Iron Distance event called the TBF HIT. The location again will be Rancho Seco Park with a beautiful lake swim, a one-loop bike course, and a two-loop trail run.

The TBF HIT will be limited to the first 500 triathletes. Each competitor will receive a custom TBF HIT III race tech t-shirt, TBF HIT Finisher Medal, TBF HIT shoulder bag, water bottle, along with the TBF HIT Goody Bag, post race hot meal, and massage.

Free parking is available for all athletes, plus RV sites and camping with showers. Awards will be given five-deep in each five-year age group.

Divisions

There will be five-year age groups beginning with 15-19 and under and finishing with 75+. Awards will be given to first through fifth place in each five-year age group.

Awards

Each finisher at the TBF HIT III will receive a TBF HIT III Finisher Medal.

First place through fifth place in each five-year age group will receive TBF HIT III award plaques.

Additional Grand Prizes for First Overall male and female to be announced.

Course Description and Map

Swim
The 1.2 mile swim course will be a one loop course in Rancho Seco Lake, beginning and ending at the beach. The course will be patrolled by the TBF Water Safety Team and assistance is available to any swimmers experiencing distress.

Bike
The 56 mile bike course is a one-loop course leaving Rancho Seco Park and turning left on Twin Cities Road. Riders will then make right hand turns on Clay Station Road, Dillard Road, Jackson Road, Highway 124, and Twin Cities Road before making a left hand turn back into the park at Rancho Seco.

Run
The 13.1 mile run course is a two-loop course running on dirt roads and single track trails around Rancho Seco Lake. There will be ten aid stations, located at miles 1.25, 2.5, 3.5, 4.75, 6, 7.25, 8.5, 9.5, 10.75 and 12.These will be stocked with cold water, powerade, CLIF Shot energy gels and other fuels.

Aid Stations
There will be three aid stations on the bike course for the TBF HIT III. They will be at miles 20, 35, and 45, each with cold water, powerade, CLIF Shot energy gel and other fuel, plus a portable restroom for the athletes. There will also be a mechanic available to assist with bike problems at each aid station.

On the run course for the TBF HIT III there will be ten aid stations, located at miles 1.25, 2.5, 3.5, 4.75, 6, 7.25, 8.5, 9.5, 10.75 and 12. Each aid station will have cold water, powerade, CLIF Shot energy gel, and other fuels.


Transition Area


The Transition area will be on a first-come basis, with the exception of Reserved Bike Racks for TRI Clubs. The transition area at all TBF Racing events is for athletes only. All non-athletes must remain outside of the transition area at all times on race day. Athletes may choose their transition spot from any of the non-reserved racks - reserved racks will be marked for Tri Clubs. Glass or bottles are not allowed in the transition area.


Bodymarking and Race Numbers

Bodymarking will be take place at the entrance to the transition area and must be completed before you enter the transition area. Athletes will have their race number marked on their legs and arms and have their age division on their calf.

Swim Tags must be attached to the wetsuit pull string or your bathing suit and handed off at the Swim Exit. Bike numbers must be attached and be visible on your bike at all times during the ride. Run numbers must be worn on your front when crossing the finish line.



Rules and Regulations

Swim Course - The wave start times and the age groups in each wave will be posted at Registration and the start area on Sunday morning.

Bike Course - ALL athletes MUST wear a helmet the entire time while riding their bikes. Failure to have your helmet on, or buckled at any time on the bike will result in DISQUALIFICATION. This includes while riding your bike in or out of the transition area.

Run Course - Run numbers must be worn on the run and when crossing the finish line. Exercise caution when running off of the trails, as there may be Poison Oak.

General rules - Numbers must be placed on your bike and worn on the run. Drafting is not allowed on the bike course. Riding your bike WILL be allowed in the transition area. No glass will be allowed in the transition area.

Use of headphones or other listening devices during ALL portions of the race ARE NOT ALLOWED.


Finish Line
After crossing the finish line please take a cold water or Clif Shot Recovery Drink and cool water and continue walking to allow your body to cool down. You should remain active for 10 to 15 minutes while you are drinking and re-fueling your body. If you need medical attention or are feeling unwell please proceed to the TBF Medical Tent or notify a TBF Volunteer that you need medical attention.

The race will start at 8 am. There will be 6 waves, each 5 minutes apart.

Wave one : Men 29 and under
Wave two : Men 30-34
Wave three : Men 35-44
Wave four : Men 45+ and Clydesdale athletes
Wave five: Women 34 and under
Wave six: Women 35+, Athena athletes.

Packet Pick-up
Packet pick-up and registration will be available from 6:30 am to 8:00 am at the race start/finish area at Rancho Seco Park.


TBF Nutrition
Clif Bars are provided in all athlete goody bags. Powerade and water are available in transition and on the run courses. Clif Shot Energy Gels are available on the run courses. Clif Shot Recovery Drink and Vitamin Water are available at the finish line. Red Bull Energy Drink is available at all TBF Racing events.

Spectators are welcome at TBF HIT III and all TBF Racing events. Spectator food and drinks will be available for sale and free coffee is available in the morning. Stop by the TBF booth at the expo and find out how you can learn the sport of Triathlon through TBF Training


Refund and Transfer Policy

TBF Racing has a No Refund policy on all of our events. A Refund for the TBF HIT III requested prior to January 1, 2010 will be given a TBF Race credit for the amount of the entry fee minus $25 processing fee. A Refund for the TBF HIT III requested after January 1, 2010 will be given a TBF Race credit for the amount of the entry fee minus $60 processing fee. A Refund for the TBF HIT III requested after June 1, 2010 will be given a TBF Race credit for the amount of the entry fee minus $90 processing fee. Credits will not be given after August 1, 2010.
