Race Details

The TBF XTERRA REAL Mountain Bike Triathlon is back with its 1/2 mile swim - 16 mile mt bike - 3.5 mile run. Race with the Best of the West at the TBF XTERRA Real Mountain Bike Triathlon as part of the 2013 XTERRA America Tour. The race will be USAT Sanctioned, requiring the purchase of a $12 one-day license with USAT, or the holding of an annual membership card with USAT.

XTERRA Point Series Race (XPS) points will be awarded for the XTERRA REAL Mountain Bike Triathlon.

XTERRA Real MTB Triathlon Distance: Swim .5 miles – Bike 16 miles – Run 3.5 miles

Fees:

XTERRA Triathlon: $80 til December 1st, $90 til February 1, 2013, $110 til race day, $120 race day

Relay Teams: $100 til December 1st, $120 til race day, $140 race day.

Start Time: XTERRA Real MTB Triathlon 9 am
Packet pick up: Race morning at race venue from 7 til 9am.

Race Features

Course Description:
Swim - The race starts with a half-mile swim in Folsom Lake, water temperature around 58 degrees. Wetsuits are permitted for all athletes.

XTERRA REAL Mountain bike triathlon

Bike - The 16-mile bike course on single track trails around the lake is two loops with mixed terrain of single track, downhills, climbs, sand, and packed decomposed granite.

Run - The 3.5-mile run has a mix of trails and roads - along with some fun hills. There will be three aid stations with water and Gatorade, plus Powergel on the run course. One at mile 1, one at the turn-around point on the run course, and one at mile 2. ALL athletes must wear their race number on the front of their body during the run and have it when crossing the finish line.

Transition Area - The Transition area will be on a first-come basis, with the exception of Reserved Bike Racks for TRI Clubs. The transition area at all TBF Racing events is for athletes only. All non-athletes must remain outside of the transition area at all times on race day. Bodymarking will be take place at the entrance to the transition area and must be completed before you enter the transition area. Athletes will have their race number marked on their legs and arms and have their age division on their calf. Glass or bottles are not allowed in the transition area.

Aid Stations:
Aid stations will be located in the transition area and at mile one and two on the run course.

Divisions/Awards:
First place Overall Male and Female in the XTERRA Real MTB Triathlon will receive Overall Champion Awards. There will be awards five deep in each ten-year age group for the XTERRA Real MTB Triathlon.

Equipment:
Expected water temperature for Folsom Lake will be 54-58 degrees. Wetsuits are strongly recommended. Swim fins and snorkels are not allowed. Helmets must be worn and buckled on the bike at all times. Run numbers must be worn on the run and when crossing the finish line. Listening devices of any kind: MP3, IPod, headphones, etc...are not allowed.

Included for each competitor is an XTERRA Real MTB Triathlon race shirt, XTERRA swim cap, athlete goody bag with PowerBar and Emerald Nuts product samples.

Post Race Athlete Food:

Included for each competitor is a post race meal of hot pasta with salad, fruit, cookies and beverage.
