Race Details
The Mountain Bike Triathlon is a great entry-level off-road Triathlon with a 200 yd swim - 6 mile mt bike - and 2 mile trail run. Awards, raffle prizes, hot post race food, and custom tech-tee race shirt, make this a fun filled event!

The MTB Triathlon Distance: Swim 200 yards – Bike 6.5 miles – Run 2 miles


Mountain Bike Triathlon: $50 til December 1st, $60 til race day, $70 race day                                   

18 and under: $45 til December 1st, $55 til race day, $65 race day

Relay Teams: $80 til December 1st, $90 til race day, $100 race day

Start Time: The MTB Triathlon 8 am
Packet pick up: Race morning at race venue from 6:30 to 8 am.

Race Features

Course Description:
Swim - The race starts with a 200 yard swim in Folsom Lake, water temperature around 58 degrees. Wetsuits are permitted for all athletes.

Bike - The 6.5-mile bike course on single track trails around the lake is one loop with mixed terrain of single track, downhills, climbs, sand, and packed decomposed granite.

Run - The 2-mile run has a mix of trails and roads. There will be three aid stations with water and electrolyte beverage, plus energy gels on the run course. One at mile 1, one at the turn-around point on the run course, and one at mile 2. ALL athletes must wear their race number on the front of their body during the run and have it when crossing the finish line.

Transition Area - The Transition area will be on a first-come basis, with the exception of Reserved Bike Racks for TRI Clubs. The transition area at all TBF Racing events is for athletes only. All non-athletes must remain outside of the transition area at all times on race day. Bodymarking will be take place at the entrance to the transition area and must be completed before you enter the transition area. Athletes will have their race number marked on their legs and arms and have their age division on their calf. Glass or bottles are not allowed in the transition area.

Aid Stations:
Aid stations will be located in the transition area and at mile one and two on the run course, serving cold water, CLIF Gel Shots, and Electrolyte beverage.

First place Overall M and Female in The MTB Triathlon will receive Overall Champion Awards. There will be awards three deep in each ten-year age group for The MTB Triathlon. Relay Team awards will be for the Top three teams in each Division of M, Female and Coed.

Expected water temperature for Folsom Lake will be 54-58 degrees. Wetsuits are strongly recommended. Swim fins and snorkels are not allowed. Helmets must be worn and buckled on the bike at all times. Run numbers must be worn on the run and when crossing the finish line. Listening devices of any kind: MP3, IPod, headphones, etc...are not allowed.

Competitor Goodies:
Included for each competitor is an  MTB Triathlon tech-tee race shirt, XTERRA swim cap, athlete goody bag with CLIF Bar, Emerald Nuts and other product samples.

Post Race Athlete Food:
Included for each competitor is a post race meal of hot pasta with salad, fruit, cookies and beverage.

Training and Coaching:
TBF Training provides group workouts and coaching for the sport of Triathlon along with individual Multi-Sport Coaching and Personal Training.
