Race Details
The New Women Only Mother’s Day Triathlon and Duathlon is a great way to celebrate this special holiday with your Mom. The race is at beautiful Granite Beach, Folsom Lake, featuring a 400 yard lake swim, a one-lap 6.5 mile road bike course, and scenic 2 mile trail run. The Mother’s Day Duathlon has a 2 mile scenic trail run before and after the same one-lap 6.5 mile road bike course and is a great way for non-swimmers to enjoy a multisport event.

Mother’s Day Triathlon $60 until race day, $70 race day
Mother’s Day Duathlon $60 until race day, $65 race day
Relay Teams $90 early, $110 race day

Race Features
The Women’s Only Mother’s Day Triathlon and Duathlon, with its 400 yd swim or 2 mile run - 6.5 mile bike and 2 mile run course is a perfect family event for Mother’s Day. We will have a special Coed Family Relay Team Division for this new fun annual event.
Wave Starts: The Mother’s Day Triathlon will start at 9 am. There will be Four waves, each 5 minutes apart.
Wave one: Women 29 and under
Wave two: Women 30-49
Wave three: Women 50+ and Athena athletes and Relay Teams
The wave start times and the age groups in each wave will be posted at Registration and the start area on Sunday morning.
Course Description:
Swim - The race starts from the Granite Beach in Folsom Lake with a 400 yard swim from the beach area. The swim course will be a triangular course marked by the large white triangular buoys. Water temperature should be approximately 56 degrees. Wetsuits are recommended. The swim will exit the lake and head up the beach and on a grassy path to the transition area located in the parking area.
Bike -The 6.5-mile bike course is a course located entirely within the park on roads closed to traffic. The bike course is windy and has several sharp small hills and tight turns. It is STRONGLY recommended that you ride the course ahead of time. Caution is advised on several of the turns as they wind through the hills and oak trees that surround Folsom Lake. After the second loop you will return into the transition area. Course maps will be available on race morning at Registration. The Bike course will Not have an aid station. Water and Clif Electrolyte Beverage, along with Clif Shot Energy gels will be available in the transition area.

Run - The 2-mile run course leaves transition and runs on single-track trails along the lake back towards Beal’s Point. The out and back course has aid stations that will be stocked with water, Clif Beverage, and Clif Shot Energy gels. The finish is back at the start area at the Granite Beach. ALL athletes must wear their race number on the front of their body during the run and have it when crossing the finish line.

Transition Area
The Transition area will be on a first-come basis, with the exception of Reserved Bike Racks for TRI Clubs. The transition area at all TBF Racing events is for athletes only. All non-athletes must remain outside of the transition area at all times on race day. Body marking will be take place at the entrance to the transition area and must be completed before you enter the transition area. Athletes will have their race number marked on their legs and arms and have their age division on their calf. Glass or bottles are not allowed in the transition area.
Aid Stations:
Aid stations will be located in the transition area for athletes before the race, on the bike course, and on the run course, serving cold water, energy gels, and electrolyte beverage.
Equipment:
Expected water temperature for Folsom Lake will be 62-68 degrees. Wetsuits are allowed. Swim fins and snorkels are not allowed. Helmets must be worn and buckled on the bike at all times. Run numbers must be worn on the run and when crossing the finish line. Listening devices of any kind: MP3, IPod, headphones, etc... are not allowed. |

Competitor Goodies:
Included for each competitor is a Special Mother’s Day Goody Bag with a Mother’s Day Triathlon/Duathlon tech-tee race shirt, XTERRA swim cap, athlete goody bag with CLIF Bar, Emerald Nuts and other special goodies.
Post Race Athlete Food:
Included for each competitor is a post race meal of hot pasta with meat and vegetarian protein options, salad, fruit, cookies and beverage.
Sports Expo:
The post race sports expo will have vendors such as Total Body Fitness, TRI Addicts, EFX, Fleet Feet Sports, and Kinetic Cycles.
Athlete Massage:
Free post race athlete massage will be provided courtesy of National Holistic Institute of Sacramento.
Training and Coaching:
TBF Training provides group workouts and coaching for the sport of Triathlon along with individual Multi-Sport Coaching and Personal Training. |
