A beautiful setting and a race course that is open to all levels of Triathletes. Free race prep clinic and race packet pick-up on Saturday afternoon. Every finisher will receive a custom Luna Bar Women's Triathlon finisher medal.

In 2008 The Luna Bar Women's Triathlon is back for its fourth year at Rancho Seco Park with a NEW date in August!


This year we will have an all-new All Women's Super Sprint Triathlon and Duathlon.

We will have the same friendly half-mile swim in Rancho Seco Lake, followed by an out and back 20 mile road bike course and finish with a fun three mile run.

Join TBF on Saturday morning for the Clif ZBar Tri-For-Kids Triathlon. Open to all kids 7 – 14 years old.

Attention: The road into the park will be closed from 8:30 am until 9 am for the Super Sprint bike course closure. ALL Athletes MUST arrive prior to 8:30 am.

Registration
Divisions

Luna Triathlon - There will be 5-year age groups beginning with 14 and under, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, etc. and ending with 70+ female individuals. There will also be an Athena Division for athletes over 150lbs.

Luna Duathlon – there will be 10-year age groups beginning with 19 and under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and ending with 70+ for female individuals.

Super Sprint Women's Triathlon and Duathlon will have 10- year age groups beginning with 19 and under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and ending with 70+ for female individuals.

Awards

First place Overall Female in the Luna Triathlon will receive Overall Champion Awards. There will be awards five deep in each five-year age group for the Luna Triathlon. Relay Teams awards will be three deep.

Course Descriptions

The 1/2 mile swim will be marked with large orange buoys, easy to see in the lake while swimming, and be patrolled by the TBF Water Safety team in kayaks. The water temperature will be in mid 70's.

The 200 yard swim course for the Super Sprint Triathlon will be marked with large buoys and monitored by our TBF Water Safety team in kayaks.

Bike
The 20 mile bike course for the Luna Triathlon and Duathlon is an out-and-back course from Rancho Seco Park on Twin Cities Road. The course will be patrolled by CHP and will allow passing. You will exit the transition area and then mount your bike. From there you will exit the park and make a right hand turn on Hwy 104, making a U-turn at the turn around point and returning to the park. Please be careful while on the road. Riders must stay to the right at all times! Riders must not draft other riders: You must maintain at least THREE bike lengths at all times behind the rider in front of you, and you MUST ride single file while on the Highway. Passing is allowed in a timely manner when it is safe to do so. After passing return to the right side of the road and continue to ride safely. Failure to do so will result in a drafting penalty or disqualification. Crossing the centerline at ANY time will also result in disqualification. Proceed to the turn around on Hwy 104 and return to the park. Traffic has the right-of-way on the road so ride CAREFULLY.

The 4 mile bike course for the Super Sprint Triathlon and Duathlon will be a four-mile course on the roads inside the park at Rancho Seco. The course will be closed to traffic and monitored for safety.

Run
The 4-mile and the 1-mile run courses exit from the transition area and runs around part of the lake on dirt trails. There will be three aid stations on the longer run course, and one on the shorter run course, that will be stocked with water, Clif Electrolyte Beverage, and Clif Shot Energy gels. The finish is back at the start area at the Beach.

Transition Area

The Transition area will be on a first-come basis, with the exception of Reserved Bike Racks for TRI Clubs. The transition area at all TBF Racing events is for athletes only. All non-athletes must remain outside of the transition area at all times on race day. Athletes may choose their transition spot from any of the non-reserved racks - reserved racks will be marked for Tri Clubs. Glass or bottles are not allowed in the transition area.

There will be special bike racks designated as TRI for KIDS only in the transition area. These bike racks will be shorter in length to accommodate the smaller athletes and bikes.

Bodymarking and Race Numbers

Bodymarking will be take place at the entrance to the transition area and must be completed before you enter the transition area. Athletes will have their race number marked on their legs and arms and have their age division on their calf.

Bike numbers must be attached and be visible on your bike at all times during the ride. Run numbers must be worn on your front when crossing the finish line.

Rules and Regulations

Luna Bar triathlon FestivalSwim Course - The wave start times and the age groups in each wave will be posted at Registration and the start area on Saturday morning.

Bike Course - ALL athletes MUST wear a helmet the entire time while riding their bikes. Failure to have your helmet on or buckled at any time on the bike will result in DISQUALIFICATION. This includes while riding your bike in or out of the transition area.

Safety is our and your first concern, be aware of all traffic and cyclists while riding. Upon re-entering the park proceed to the transition area. There will be DISMOUNT line where all cyclists must dismount their bike before entering the transition area. Please re-rack your bicycle in the SAME spot and proceed on to the run.

ALL athletes are required to wear an ANSI approved bicycle helmet during the entire bike course. Athletes will NOT be allowed to proceed on the bike course without a helmet. The helmet must be securely fastened the entire time you are on your bike. Failure to do so will result in disqualification.

Run Course - Run numbers must be worn on the run and when crossing the finish line.

General rules - Numbers must be placed on your bike and worn on the run. Drafting is not allowed on the bike course. Riding your bike WILL be allowed in the transition area. No glass will be allowed in the transition area.

Use of headphones or other listening devices during ALL portions of the race ARE NOT ALLOWED.

Finish Line

After crossing the finish line please take a cold water or Clif Shot Recovery Drink and cool water and continue walking to allow your body to cool down. You should remain active for 10 to 15 minutes while you are drinking and re-fueling your body.

If you need medical attention or are feeling unwell please proceed to the TBF Medical Tent or notify a TBF Volunteer that you need medical attention.

Packet Pick-up

Packets may be picked Friday, August 22 from 12 noon to 6 pm at Fleet Feet Sports on J Street in Sacramento. Race packets will be available race morning from 7 am to 8:45 am at the race site. The race will start promptly at 9:00 am. Be sure to give yourself plenty of time for entrance to the park, parking, transition set-up and warm-up. Your entry fee into the park is included in your Race entry fee.

For athletes registering online using Active.com during race week, your race packet will NOT be available at Fleet Feet Sports if you registered on Thursday or Friday and you will need to pick it up at the race on race morning.

TRI for KIDS Triathlon
kids We will have three Chanoko Kids Duathlons, Chanoko Kids Jr. Duathlon and & Kids Trail Runs on February 2, February 23 and March 15 as part of the Chanoko Duathlon series.

Our 2008 TRI for KIDS will be now be a five-race series in June 8, July 13 , August 3, August 23 and a TRI for KIDS Championship Triathlon Race (and Open race) on September 13. These fun races at Rancho Seco Park will feature a swim of 50/150 meters, a 4 mile bike and a 1-mile run for athletes 11 to 14 years of age. There will be a shorter swim for the athletes 7-10. In total, in 2008 there will be:

6 Kids Mountain Bike Duathlon Races in the Spring
3 Kids Trail Runs in the Spring

Spectator Information
Our TBF Racing Athlete Volunteer Program offers you a chance to get involved with events, have fun and earn a $40 TBF Racing voucher good towards entry fees at any of our events - plus fee food. Pick up your RACE For FREE Athlete Voucher at the end of your shift. Complete event schedule

Spectators are welcome at the Luna Bar All Women's Triathlon Festival and all TBF Racing events. Spectator food and drinks will be available for sale and free coffee is available in the morning. Stop by the TBF booth at the expo and find out how you can learn the sport of Triathlon through TBF Training

TRI Clubs
If you are a member of a Triathlon Club that has 10 or more athletes racing with TBF Racing we can reserve transition racks specifically for your club, have your club set up a tent in the expo/athlete area, and hang your banners at the event. Please contact the Race Director for more information.

Refund and Transfer Policy

TBF Racing has a No Refund policy on all of our events. A Refund requested prior to race week will be given a TBF Race credit for the amount of the entry fee minus $25 processing fee. Credits will not be given during race week.

Transfers will be allowed from one TBF Racing event to another within a one-year time frame. There will be a $25 transfer fee. Transfers will not be allowed during race week.

2007 Results
LUNA Triathlon
