Race Details
The ICE Breaker Triathlon is the best way to start your racing season! The race is at beautiful Granite Beach, Folsom Lake, featuring a lake swim, two-lap road bike, and scenic trail run. The Ice Breaker Dash is a super sprint course perfect for first-timers.

Ice Breaker Triathlon Distance: .5 mile swim – 13 mile bike – 4 mile run
Ice Breaker Dash Tri Distance: Swim 400 yards – Bike 6.5 miles – Run 2 mile
Ice Breaker Dash Du Distance: Run 2 miles – Bike 6.5 miles – Run 2 mile

Fees:
Ice Breaker Triathlon: $60 til December 1, 2012, $70 til February 1, 2013, $80 til race day, $90 on race day

Relay Teams: $100 til December 1, 2012, $110 til February 1, 2013, $120 til race day

Ice Breaker Dash Tri./Du $50 until December 1, 2012, $60 til race day,$70 race day

Start Time: Ice Breaker Dash 8 am | ICE BREAKER Triathlon 9 am
Packet pick up: Athlete packets may be picked up on Friday, April 5th at Fleet Feet Roseville 1850 Douglas Blvd. Suite 700, Roseville CA from 12:00 pm to 6:00 pm. Race packets will be available race morning from 6:30 am to 9 am at the race site.

Race Features
Wave Starts:
The Ice Breaker Dash will start at 8 am with TWO waves, each 5 minutes apart.
Wave one: Men and Women 39 and under
Wave two: Men and Women 40+ and Athena, Clydesdale athletes

ICE Breaker Triathlon will start at 9 am. There will be SIX waves, each 5 minutes apart.
Wave one: Men 29 and under
Wave two: Men 30-39
Wave three: Men 40-49
Wave four: Men 50+ and Clydesdale athletes
Wave five: Women 34 and under
Wave six: Women 35+, Athena athletes and Relay Teams

The wave start times and the age groups in each wave will be posted at Registration and the start area on Saturday morning.

Course Description:
Swim - The race starts from the Granite Beach in Folsom Lake with a .5 mile swim from the beach area. The swim course will be a triangular course marked by the large white triangular buoys. Water temperature should be approximately 56 degrees. Wetsuits are recommended. The swim will exit the lake and head up the beach and on a grassy path to the transition area located in the parking area.

Bike - The 13-mile bike course is a TWO-LAP course located entirely within the park on roads closed to traffic. The bike course is windy and has several sharp small hills and tight turns. It is STRONGLY recommended that you ride the course ahead of time. Caution is advised on several of the turns as they wind through the hills and oak trees that surround Folsom Lake. After the second loop you will return into the transition area. Course maps will be available on race morning at Registration. The Bike course will Not have an aid station. Water and Clif Electrolyte Beverage, along with Clif Shot Energy gels will be available in the transition area.

Run - The 4-mile run course leaves transition and runs on single-track trails along the lake back towards Beal’s Point. The out and back course has 3 aid stations that will be stocked with water, Clif Beverage, and Clif Shot Energy gels. The finish is back at the start area at the Granite Beach. ALL athletes must wear their race number on the front of their body during the run and have it when crossing the finish line.

Transition Area - The Transition area will be on a first-come basis, with the exception of Reserved Bike Racks for TRI Clubs. The transition area at all TBF Racing events is for athletes only. All non-athletes must remain outside of the transition area at all times on race day. Bodymarking will be take place at the entrance to the transition area and must be completed before you enter the transition area. Athletes will have their race number marked on their legs and arms and have their age division on their calf. Glass or bottles are not allowed in the transition area.

Aid Stations:
Aid stations will be located in the transition area and at miles 1, 2.5 and 3 on the run course, serving cold water, CLIF Gel Shots, and Electrolyte beverage.

Divisions/Awards:
First place Overall Male and Female in the ICE BREAKER Triathlon will receive Overall Champion Awards. There will be awards five deep in each five-year age group for the ICE BREAKER Triathlon. Relay Team awards will be for the Top three teams in each Division of Male, Female and Coed.

Equipment:
Expected water temperature for Folsom Lake will be 54-58 degrees. Wetsuits are recommended. Swim fins and snorkels are not allowed. Helmets must be worn and buckled on the bike at all times. Run numbers must be worn on the run and when crossing the finish line. Listening devices of any kind: MP3, IPod, headphones, etc... are not allowed.

Included for each competitor is an ICE BREAKER Triathlon tech-tee race shirt, XTERRA swim cap, athlete goody bag with CLIF Bar and Emerald Nuts product samples.

Post Race Athlete Food:
Included for each competitor is a post race meal of hot pasta with salad, fruit, cookies and beverage.

Training and Coaching:
TBF Training provides group workouts and coaching for the sport of Triathlon along with individual Multi-Sport Coaching and Personal Training.
