Race highlights
The Golden State Triathlon is California's Only Criterium Style Sprint Triathlon with a Draft Legal Three-loop bike course and a Post Race Party with beer garden and hot post race food. The race course features a half-mile swim in the American River, a fifteen-mile three-lap bike course that is draft legal, and a three mile run course on the American River Bike Trail. This race attracts top competition among age-group athletes with a ton of FUN. The Golden State Triathlon has SweatVac tech-tee race shirts and awards five-deep in each five-year age group. There is also the Super Sprint Triathlon with a 200 yard swim – 5 mile bike – 1 mile run with awards three-deep in each 10-year age group and a custom race t-shirt. Athletes entered in both races will receive a post race hot meal, free athlete massage, athlete goody bag, a chance for raffle prizes, free coffee, free RedBull, free CLIF Bar products, and free beer.

For the Golden State Triathlon there will be 5-year age groups beginning with 14 and under, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, etc. and ending with 70+ for male and female individuals. There will be Clydesdale (men over 200 lbs) and Athena (women over 150 lbs) Divisions. For the Super Sprint Triathlon there will be 10-year age groups beginning with 19 and under, 20-29, 30-39, etc. and ending with 60+ for male and female individuals. There will be Clydesdale (men over 200 lbs) and Athena (women over 150 lbs) Divisions.

Awards |
First place Overall Male and Female in the Golden State Triathlon will receive Overall Champion Awards. There will be awards five deep in each five-year age group for the Golden State Triathlon. Relay Teams awards will be for the top three in each division of Male, Female, and Coed Teams.

Course Description and Map |
Swim
The race starts from the beach in Discovery Park, across the bridge from the Transition area, finish line and athlete parking. The swim will be a half-mile in the American River, starting upstream and ending downstream on the opposite side of the American River. There is a sand staircase up the riverbank to the transition area.
The Super Sprint swim will go directly across the river to the opposite bank and exit in the same location as the Golden State Triathlon View the swim course
Bike
The 15 mile three-loop bike course is draft-legal and runs on closed local roads. Athletes are responsible for counting their own bike laps to insure they finish all three laps. Athletes not completing all three bike laps will be disqualified. View the bike course
Athletes competing in the Super Sprint Triathlon will complete only one lap and return to the Transition area.
Run
Both the 1-mile and the 3-mile run courses are fast out and back courses along the beautiful American River Parkway. View the run course

Transition Area |
The Transition area will be on a first-come basis, with the exception of Reserved Bike Racks for TRI Clubs. The transition area at all TBF Racing events is for athletes only. All non-athletes must remain outside of the transition area at all times on race day. Athletes may choose their transition spot from any of the non-reserved racks - reserved racks will be marked for Tri Clubs. Glass or bottles are not allowed in the transition area.

Bodymarking and Race Numbers
|
Bodymarking will be take place at the entrance to the transition area and must be completed before you enter the transition area. Athletes will have their race number marked on their legs and arms and have their age division on their calf.
Bike numbers must be attached and be visible on your bike at all times during the ride. Run numbers must be worn on your front when crossing the finish line.

Rules and Regulations |
Swim Course - The wave start times and the age groups in each wave will be posted at Registration and the start area on Sunday morning.
Bike Course - ALL athletes MUST wear a helmet the entire time while riding their bikes. Failure to have your helmet on or buckled at any time on the bike will result in DISQUALIFICATION. This includes while riding your bike in or out of the transition area during warm-up and cool down.
Run Course - Run numbers must be worn on the run and when crossing the finish line.
General rules - Numbers must be placed on your bike and worn on the run. For this race DRAFTING IS ALLOWED on the bike course. Riding your bike WILL be allowed in the transition area. No glass will be allowed in the transition area.
Use of headphones or other listening devices during ALL portions of the race ARE NOT ALLOWED.

Finish Line |
After crossing the finish line please take a cold water or Clif Shot Recovery Drink and cool water and continue walking to allow your body to cool down. You should remain active for 10 to 15 minutes while you are drinking and re-fueling your body. If you need medical attention or are feeling unwell please proceed to the TBF Medical Tent or notify a TBF Volunteer that you need medical attention.

Wave 1 at 9:00 am: Men 34 and under
Wave 2 at 9:05 am: Men 35 to 44
Wave 3 at 9:10 am: Men 45+ and Clydesdale Athletes
Wave 4 at 9:15 am: Women 29 and under and Athena Athletes
Wave 5 at 9:20 am: Women 30 to 39
Wave 6 at 9:25 am: Women 40+ and all Relay Teams

10 am to 6 pm on Saturday October 9 at the Fleet Feet Sports in Sacramento, located at 2311 J Street on Saturday. Packet Pick up will also be available on race morning from 6:30 am to 8:30 am at the race venue in Discovery Park.

Spectators are welcome at the Granite Bay Triathlon and all TBF Racing events. Spectator food and drinks will be available for sale and free coffee is available in the morning. Stop by the TBF booth at the expo and find out how you can learn the sport of Triathlon through TBF Training

Refund and Transfer Policy
|
TBF Racing has a No Refund policy on all of our events. A Refund requested prior to race week will be given a TBF Race credit for the amount of the entry fee minus $25 processing fee. Credits will not be given during race week.
Transfers will be allowed from one TBF Racing event to another within a one-year time frame. There will be a $25 transfer fee. Transfers will not be allowed during race week.
