Great Kids Events in 2008 with the Chanoko Kids Duathlon – 2 mile run-5 mile mt bike and the Short Course Chanoko Kids Jr Duathlon – 1 mile run-2.5 mile mt bike, plus a Kids Trail Run of 2 miles.
Continuing from 2007 is the Chanoko Trail Run Series with a 6 mile challenging trail run offering awards three deep and Series Championship awards.

TBF Racing is excited to present the Chanoko Duathlon Series – A Mountain Bike Duathlon with a 2 mile trail run, 12 mile single track mountain bike, and 2 mile trail run, along with the accompanying Chanoko 6-mile Trail Run, and our Chanoko Kids Events. This is our 8 th year offering the three-race Series.

Divisions |
For the Chanoko Mt Bike Duathlon and Trail Run there will be 10-year age groups beginning with 19 and under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and ending with 70+ for male and female individuals.
Kids Divisions will be 7-10 and 11-14 for boys and girls in the Chanoko Kids Duathlon.
The Chanoko Kids Jr and Chanoko Kids Run will not have division awards. Each finisher will receive a Chanoko Kids Finisher Medal.

Relay |
For the Chanoko Mountain Bike Duathlon only, Relay Team divisions are Male, Female and Coed, with a relay team consisting of two athletes.

Awards |
First place Overall Male and Female in the Chanoko Mt Bike Duathlon will receive Overall Chanoko Champion Awards. There will be awards five deep in each ten-year age group for the Chanoko Mt Bike Duathlon. Relay Teams awards will be for the top three in each division of Male, Female, and Coed Teams.
There will also be Chanoko Series Age group Champions for athletes competing in all three Chanoko events - awarded to first place in each division. The Chanoko Champions will receive free entry into all three Chanoko Races for next year in addition to Chanoko Champion Awards.
First place Overall Male and Female in the Chanoko 6-mile Trail Run will receive Overall Champion Awards. There will be awards three deep in each ten-year age group for the Chanoko Trail Run.

Course Description and Map |
Chanoko Mt Bike Duathlon First and second runs - Both runs are the same course, and are mostly on single track trails heading out of the transition area and circling back to the first aid station at mile one and then finishing with another loop to the finish line. Bike - The bike course is a one loop 12-mile course that has a little bit of everything. The course is mostly single-track trails with some climbing and descending, some sand and rocks, and a water crossing or two.

Chanoko Trail Run
The Chanoko Trail Run starts along the shore of Folsom Lake and after a short section on pavement begins climbing the small hills of the shoreline for an out and back course that veers once to a scenic point along the lake and returns up some short but steep hills, with aid stations spread every 2 miles along the course. There is a climb up Mooney Ridge on the way back to the finish line.

The Kids 2 mile course is gentle and rolling along the shore returning on single track trails to the finish line.

Chanoko Kids Duathlon
The Chanoko Kids Duathlon begins with the same 2-mile run as the adult Chanoko course, on scenic trails near the lake. The 5-mile mt bike course is a subset of the adult course, on single track trails with some climbing, but no technical sections nor water crossings. The course is ride-able and enjoyable for kids of all levels.

Chanoko Kids Jr Du
The Chanoko Kids Jr Duathlon will have a 1 mile run and a 2.5 mile bike. The bike course will be over flat terrain without hills, rocks or water crossings.

Transition Area |
The Transition area will be on a first-come basis, with the exception of Reserved Bike Racks for TRI Clubs. The transition area at all TBF Racing events is for athletes only. All non-athletes must remain outside of the transition area at all times on race day. Athletes may choose their transition spot from any of the non-reserved racks - reserved racks will be marked for Tri Clubs. Glass or bottles are not allowed in the transition area.

Bodymarking and Race Numbers |
Bodymarking will be take place at the entrance to the transition area and must be completed before you enter the transition area. Athletes will have their race number marked on their legs and arms and have their age division on their calf.
Bike numbers must be attached and be visible on your bike at all times during the ride. Run numbers must be worn on your front when crossing the finish line.

Rules and
Regulations |
Bike Course
ALL athletes MUST wear a helmet the entire time while riding their bikes. Failure to have your helmet on or buckled at any time on the bike will result in DISQUALIFICATION. This includes while riding your bike in or out of the transition area.
Run Course
Run numbers must be worn on the run and when crossing the finish line. Exercise caution when running off of the trails, as there may be Poison Oak.
General rules
Numbers must be placed on your bike and worn on the run. Drafting is not allowed on the bike course. Riding your bike WILL be allowed in the transition area. No glass will be allowed in the transition area.
Use of headphones or other listening devices during ALL portions of the race ARE NOT ALLOWED.

Finish Line |
After crossing the finish line please take a cold water or Clif Shot Recovery Drink and cool water and continue walking to allow your body to cool down. You should remain active for 10 to 15 minutes while you are drinking and re-fueling your body. If you need medical attention or are feeling unwell please proceed to the TBF Medical Tent or notify a TBF Volunteer that you need medical attention.

Packet Pick-up |
Packet pick-up and registration will be available from 6:30 am to 8:30 am at the race start/finish area at Granite Beach of Folsom Lake, Granite Bay.

TBF Nutrition |
Clif Bars are provided in all athlete goody bags. Clif Shot Electrolyte Drink and water are available in transition and on the run courses. Clif Shot Energy Gels are available on the run courses. Clif Shot Recovery Drink and Vitamin Water are available at the finish line. Red Bull Energy Drink is available at all TBF Racing events.

KIDS |
We will have three Chanoko Kids Duathlons, Chanoko Kids Jr. Duathlon and & Kids Trail Runs on February 2, February 23 and March 15 as part of the Chanoko Duathlon series.
Our 2008 TRI for KIDS will be now be a five-race series in June 8, July 13 , August 3, August 23 and a TRI for KIDS Championship Triathlon Race (and Open race) on September 13. These fun races at Rancho Seco Park will feature a swim of 50/150 meters, a 4 mile bike and a 1-mile run for athletes 11 to 14 years of age. There will be a shorter swim for the athletes 7-10. In total, in 2008 there will be:
6 Kids Mountain Bike Duathlon Races in the Spring
3 Kids Trail Runs in the Spring

Spectators are welcome at the Chanoko Mt Bike Duathlon and all TBF Racing events. Spectator food and drinks will be available for sale and free coffee is available in the morning. Stop by the TBF booth at the expo and find out how you can learn the sport of Triathlon through TBF Training

TRI Clubs |
Refund and Transfer Policy |
| If you are a member of a Triathlon Club that has 10 or more athletes racing with TBF Racing we can reserve transition racks specifically for your club, have your club set up a tent in the expo/athlete area, and hang your banners at the event. Please contact the Race Director for more information. |
TBF Racing has a No Refund policy on all of our events. A Refund requested prior to race week will be given a TBF Race credit for the amount of the entry fee minus $25 processing fee. Credits will not be given during race week.
Transfers will be allowed from one TBF Racing event to another within a one-year time frame. There will be a $25 transfer fee. Transfers will not be allowed during race week. |
